Why We Only Sell in Pairs

The mission of Magpie Cards is two-fold -- to promote the work of unique artists and designers, and to encourage the trading and collecting of limited edition playing cards.

Promoting the work of unique artists and designers

We actively seek out the world's most creative artists and designers for our card deck collaborations. We know that the majority of these popular artists' followers might never be able to afford a custom piece of art from their favorite designer, but just about anyone can afford a deck (or two) of cards!

Our artist collaborations produce two companion decks of cards, with each deck offering unique color and style variations from the artist's original creation. By selling our decks in pairs, we provide a more lucrative opportunity for the designers we work with, as well as providing them with the chance to create a unique, custom set.

Encouraging the trading and collecting of limited edition playing cards

If you’ve ever wanted to start collecting something, why not playing cards? Consider it your own personal art collection.

Magpie is committed to supporting the growing community of playing card collectors. We believe that cards are most valuable when they are part of a collection. And they become even more valuable when they can be traded with other avid card collectors!

We sell our decks in pairs so that even if you want to trade one deck with another card collector, you're still guaranteed of keeping at least one deck from the artists' collection. For this very reason, we encourage you to consider ordering more than the 2-deck minimum! The more decks you have on hand, the more value you have for potential future trades.

And don't forget, all Magpie artist collaborations are LIMITED EDITIONS. Once the pre-order is over and the cards have been printed, they will never be printed or offered again! So if you really love a particular collection, grab as many as you can while you have the chance.

Some potential combinations for the cards you purchase and collect:

2 Decks: One for me. One for a friend.
4 Decks: Two for me. One to collect. One to trade.
6 Decks: Two for me. Two to re-sell. Two for trading.

Or how about just getting 12 Decks? That would give you enough to keep, trade, re-sell, and give to everyone on your holiday gift list!
